Cookies & storage
The current weather.ws application does not set advertising or analytics cookies. It uses browser storage to remember choices you make.
Last updated
Saved places and preferences
Your saved places, temperature unit and theme are kept in local browser storage. They remain until you change them, clear site data or your browser removes them. They are not shared across devices. If storage is unavailable, choices can apply only for the current visit.
Language preference
Choosing a language sets the first-party weather-ws-language cookie for up to one year. It contains only the language code and overrides browser-language matching on the homepage. It is not used for advertising or tracking. Clearing weather.ws cookies removes the saved choice; the homepage will then use your browser’s preferred supported language. Links to a specific language keep that language.
Recent places
Up to six recently visited named cities are stored in your browser so you can reopen them from search. This includes cities opened directly or suggested from your approximate connection location. Device-location point forecasts are not added to this list. Remove individual cities in the search menu or clear site data to remove the entire list. These places are not synchronized to an account.
Recent search results
Up to 32 recent search-result sets can be held in page memory for up to five minutes each to make repeated searches quicker. This cache is not a persistent browsing history and is cleared when the page session ends.
Location permission is separate
Your browser manages device-location permission separately from cookies and saved preferences. Remove that permission in your browser’s site settings if you no longer want weather.ws to request location. You can always search for a place by name.
Clear your saved information
Open your browser’s site settings for weather.ws and clear site data or stored data. This removes saved places and preferences for this browser. You can also remove individual saved or recent places in the search menu, or use the star control on a saved place’s weather page. Clearing site data does not automatically remove point forecast URLs from browser history; manage history separately.
If this changes
We will update this page before introducing new storage uses. For information about server processing and weather providers, read our Privacy notice.
